Bedford Pack 5 Cub Scouts
The Greatest Pack Alive!
Pack 5 is one of three cub scout packs in Bedford, NH with approximately 30 cub scouts in 5 dens. All boys from kindergartner through fifth-grade (or 5 to 11½ years of age) in the Bedford area are welcome to join Pack 5.
Kindergartners are Lions
First graders are Tiger Cubs
Second graders are Wolf Scouts
Third graders are Bear Scouts
Fourth graders are Webelos Scouts
Fifth graders are Arrow of Light Scouts
The pack meets once a month during the school year to award belt loops and badges and to register for special events. Pack meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month from September through May from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at one of the schools in Bedford.
Dens generally meet twice per month during the school year to help cubs earn badges and belt loops. Den meetings are usually held at the den leader's home or a local school, but they may meet at other locations for field trips. Den meetings are generally held on evenings and weekends throughout the school year based on the den preferences. The boys work on advancement towards ranks as they learn about the environment, citizenship, US history, building good character, first aid, sports, camping and many other topics.
There is generally one special event each month throughout the school year, such as...
Sleepovers at Museums
Camping trips to Camp Carpenter
Hikes along sections of the Appalachian Trail in the White Mountains
Sleepovers at Battleship Cove, Plimoth Plantation and the Fisher Cats stadium (yes, right on the field!)
and Much more...
Tiger Cubs are required to have one parent or guardian present at all pack and den events. Parents of Wolf, Bear and Webelo cubs are welcome to attend pack and den meetings, but aren't required to do so. Parent/guardian participation is also required for some special events. Some special events are also open to siblings.
The best way to join pack 5 is at the ice cream social which is held in June each year, at the Family Picnic / BBQ or the new scout orientation in September (see the events page for details). It is also possible to join mid-year - just contact us at email@example.com
. Membership costs are minimal per year, and includes the neckerchief and handbook. Cubs will need to buy the rest of the uniform (principally a shirt, belt and neckerchief slide). There is generally an additional cost for special events.
We try to keep the membership fees affordable, so we rely on fundraisers (primarily popcorn sales) to cover a large part of our operating budget and to support the regional, state and national scouting organizations.
Pack 5 is entirely run by hardworking volunteer parents. All volunteers and leaders are trained and background checked.
